Stora salen

The great hall or ‘Stor Salen’ is unique in Lund. Its ballroom ambience recalls former times – nevertheless it is fully equipped with the facilities of the present day. When prepared for a banquet the room can accommodate 250 seated guests, under the so-called Nobel seating arrangement, i.e. the main table in the centre and the other guests distributed on side tables. With round tables 165 guests can be accommodated but it is also possible to combine round with oval tables and in that case there is space for 200 guests. When not used for dining purposes, the so-called cinema seating applies – chairs in rows before a podium – with  225 places. With the utilisation of adjoining premises it is possible to combine the conference with a fair or exhibition. The possibilities are unlimited.

This great room was renovated ten years ago and has now recovered its former glory, exactly as in 1899. Take the opportunity to admire e.g. the ceiling and wall patterns and colours, also the chandelier and the half-pillars that support the gallery. The master behind this work was the scene painter Svante Thulin.
