Who was Sten Broman?

Sten Broman, composer, conductor, TV host, born 1902 in Uppsala(!), died 1983 i Lund.

Sten Broman became mightily popular when he was TV host for the music quiz Kontrapunkt. He was a person of many and varied occupations, an eccentric and a dress snob who designed his suits himself.

Broman was intimately connected with the Grand. It was at the Grand he led unforgettable vernissages of the Lukas Guild’s illustrations at the Christmas banquet in December, the last time sitting in a wheelchair.

Many stories surround the personality of Sten Broman. After repeated enquiries whether the waiter could fetch a table napkin, the final retort was “The one there is a paper one and I can assure the young man that I use paper on only one part of the body and it is not on the face!”
