Falstaff Fakir

Who was Falstaff Fakir?

Falstaff, fakir, author, was a pseudonym for journalist and author Axel Wallengren (1865-1896) who under this name wrote a number of works with remarkably modern humour.

Falstaff, fakir is a central character within so-called Lund humour, and many parts of his work were originally published in carnival publications and other output of a temporary character within Lund student life. The style and context are bearing elements rather than the actual content. Despite the partly modern form of the humour the society of earlier times comes immediately to light. He also wrote (less successfully) poetry, and the well-known humorous books contain much (intentional) pretentious trash.

The Falstaff anthology includes a large part of his production.
