There are serious researchers who maintain that in Lund there are more associations and societies per inhabitant than in any other comparable Swedish city. The typical inhabitant of Lund is keen to socialise, something shared by Lund residents who live abroad. We in Lund like the company of others.

The city’s restaurants and inns play a major role in the survival of clubs and societies. Such establishments offer venues for meetings of local societies, board meetings, lively parties or merely to conclude some discussion over a beer. GRAND HOTEL stands out amongst Lund’s many hostelries.

We claim, quite frankly, that Grand Hotel is Lund’s leading cultural centre, and clearly the good people of Lund agree with this opinion since so far nobody has challenged this assertion …

Since its inception in January 1999 – also the start of the Grand’s centenary celebrations –  the Grand Society has arranged a series of activeties wine-, chocolate-, Swedish snaps and other tastings, guided tour of Grand Hotel’s interior including the wine cellar, GrandSång - (a sing-along event), Kostcirkeln – a lecture series on food and culinary culture – and much else besides. These events are also open to non-members, but the great advantage to members is that they pay less to attend such events.
